About Module 3: Community Engagement

Community Engagement


In this module, learners will gain an understanding of the vital role that community engagement plays in the sustainability of a mobile market venture and in the achievement of its social objectives.

Learners will be introduced to an ethnographic (community-based research) framework that can be used to build relations with community members, to establish community and corporate partnerships, to develop initiatives in support of their social objectives, and to define marketing and engagement campaigns that will resonate with community members.

This module is a prerequisite for “Module 4: Creating Your Community Asset Map’’ where learners are tasked with using the framework to create their own asset map and plan for community engagement.


Learning Outcomes

At the end of this module, the learner will be able to:

  1. Describe the “by the community, for the community” approach and its role in the success of a mobile market venture.
  2. Select analogue and digital tools to inform, support, and execute engagement strategies.
  3. Visualize the process of community asset mapping and determine its use as a core tool for achieving the mobile market’s social objectives.
