The Social Enterprise Model
Course Introduction
In this module, learners will gain an understanding of the social enterprise model as a distinct business model with its own set of considerations and challenges. In response to these challenges, The Farmer’s Truck Robin Hood Model will be described as a way of reducing risk and achieving a balance between financial sustainability and meeting the venture’s social objectives.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this module, the learner will be able to:
- Distinguish between a nonprofit, a for-profit, and a social enterprise business model
- Recognize the challenges for the social enterprise in creating a balance between financial sustainability and social impact
- Apply the Farmers’ Truck Robin Hood Model to create an operations calendar and a break-even analysis for their mobile market
- Identify threats to the success of their enterprise and employ strategies to remove or mitigate risks
